In case you haven't seen it, the 2004 film The Motorcycle Diaries is based on the memoirs of young Ernesto "Che" Guevara (here played by Gael García Bernal), who, along with his friend Alberto Granado, traveled across South America by motorcycle in 1952. During the expedition they were indelibly transformed by the impoverished peoples they encountered; the journey formed the basis for Guevara's later efforts to foment Marxist revolutions across Latin America.
