Rueda at the Park. For those new to RaP, here's how it works: We meet up at the Bethesda Fountain smack in the middle of Central Park. We throw on some great music--loads of timba, with some bachata, pachanga, boogaloo, and a bunch more mixed in. We kick off with FREE lessons so that beginners can learn the basic steps and intermediate dancers can add to their repertoire. And then we dance for hours on end, with the squirrels, birds, and tourists of Central Park looking on in wonder and often joining in. And the Park Rangers can't do a damn thing, and you know why? Because DANCING'S NOT ILLEGAL and also we've bribed them with $2 dollar bills. 6:00pm: FREE rueda lessons from Monte, Maritza, Evelyn, Russell, Fernando, and Alison, with two circles—beginners and intermediate dancers--so everyone can learn at their own level.
6:30pm-break of dawn: We throw the music on and let chaos take over--join in a rueda of your choosing, ask a partner to dance, or follow along to our suelta lineups
