Art exhibitions, free movies and tech-science conect events

A great scape for the cold weather are the art galleries: for example the 24 th st is full of amazing creations, from modern avant gard sculptures to very traditional black and white photography: http://nycgallerydirectory.com/index.php/directory/category/C14/
My favorite is the Romulo Celdran in Hasted Kraeutler, with drawings plus sculptures that look so real but they are made of different and surprising materials :)
Check out the gaggosian for a huge wood wall, and cross the street for the love lights installations in other galleries

"City as Canvas: Graffiti Art from the Martin Wong Collection". C0nsidering the sudden and bleak demise of graffiti hub 5 Pointz, this is a good place to keep the memory and the art alive: Museum of the City of New York 1220 Fifth Ave, between 103rd and 104th Sts. The Historical Society visits a watershed exhibition in the history of American art (and a significant event in the annals of New York City) with this centennial celebration of the 1913 Armory Show, the controversial survey that introduced New York audiences to the works of such modern artists as Duchamp, Matisse, Picasso, Cézanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh. The Met is offering a great photos of Paris in black an white exhibition ( you know this museum is pay as you wish, don't you?), instruments of the world and asian ink drawing worthy to rediscover the north second floor in the Met.

"Ladies and Gentlemen...The Beatles!" On the 50th anniversary of the Fab Four arriving stateside, the Public Library for the Performing Arts and the Grammy Museum showcase memorabilia, recordings, videos and photos of the mop-topped musicians, and the Beatlemania that followed them.
