Help our Girls Prep public elementary and middle schools on the Lower East Side and in the Bronx develop the next generation of female mathematicians, technologists, engineers, and scientists on Ultimate Pi Day, 3/14/15.
Join us for the Girls Prep 3.14 Mile Run & Kids Race on Ultimate Pi Day, a once-in-a-century opportunity to run 3.14 miles on 3/14/15 at 9:26:53 AM (celebrating the first 10 digits of Pi–the girls at Public Prep often memorize many more than that!), against the stunning views offered on Roosevelt Island — a 20 minute train ride from midtown Manhattan. The Kids’ Race will take place at 10:30.
Girls Prep hopes that runners will raise an average of $1,000 each on CrowdRise, so that Girls Prep can ultimately provide each girl enrolled in a Girls Prep schools with a year of incredible STEM programming. Learn more here.
5K Course: A course map can be viewed here. Please note: the map shows a 10K course as well; this event only includes the 5K.
Awards: Awards will be given to the top three male and female runners overall in each race. Age group awards in the 5K will be awarded to the top three in each the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over. Our awards policy is available here. All finishers of the Kids’ Race will receive a medal. Please note that there are no overall or age group awards for the Kids’ Race.
Packet Pickup: Pre-Race packet pickup will be at Jackrabbit Sports Union Square, 42 West 14th St between 5th and 6th Aves on Friday March 13th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Race-day packet pickup will be available at the start line beginning at 8:00 AM. We strongly encourage you to pick up your race materials in advance of race day to avoid lines.
Amenities: Bag check and toilets will be provided. A t-shirt will be given to all participants in the 3.14 Mile Run. Cocoa, bagels, spreads, and fresh fruit will make up the usual great post race spread.
Directions: Take the F train or Tram to Roosevelt Island All pre- and post-race activities are on Firefighters Field, a short walk from public transit, just north of both starting areas and just south of the finish. Please check MTA Trip Planner for up to date and detailed mass transit directions and Google Maps for driving directions. Parking is limited at all of our events, we strongly encourage you to use mass transit.
Cost: $25 through January 31st, $30 through 3/9 and $40 thereafter. The Kids’ Race is $5 until online registration closes and is $10 on race day. NYCRUNS members receive a 5% discount, race deferral rights, and other perks. Race day registration (if available) is cash only. Register early and save us all a lot of hassle!
